Job Summary
Supervisor in the Exceptional Learning Department responsible for supervising the special education process to ensure compliance, coordinating with districts and schools on transition and services for students with disabilities, and providing leadership and mentoring for staff and families. Collaborates with administrators, special education teams, and families to develop and review IEPs for exceptional learners, maintains knowledge of legal requirements governing special education, and supports professional development and program initiatives within Springfield Public Schools.
Required Qualifications
- A master’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Licensed as a Special Education Administrator by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education
- Three to five years of successful teaching experience in the areas of special education
- Demonstrated knowledge of IDEA 2004 and 603.CMR 28.00
- Demonstrated knowledge in best practices in meeting the needs of all children with disabilities
Desired Qualifications
