Job Summary

Lead the development, coordination, and delivery of technical training programs for Protection, Automation, and Control (PAC) systems, covering substation apparatus, protection scheme testing, IEC 61850 applications, and SCADA/EMS workflows. Supervise instructors and training coordinators by assigning delivery priorities, conducting performance evaluations, and coaching skill development in PAC technologies and high-voltage equipment. Integrate laboratory-based training that mirrors real commissioning workflows, including relay schemes, drawing interpretation, and Omicron-based testing, while teaching protective relay logic across transmission lines and buses. Maintain accurate records of training participation and competency assessments, prepare reports on readiness levels, and manage training rooms, simulators, and instructional equipment. Ensure team compliance with utility standards, labor agreements, and regulatory requirements, and participate in critical restoration tasks and drills following storms or emergencies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, technology, training & development, education, or related field
  • 6 years' relevant experience performing functional role responsibilities
  • 2 years' experience leading engineering teams or as training specialist
  • 4 years' experience working in electrical utility industry
  • 3–5 years in training delivery, instructional design, or workforce development
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to support field observations and deliver on‐site training
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining safety, quality, and human‐performance excellence
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience
  • Master's degree in relevant field accompanied by a minimum of 4 years of progressive relevant experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in PAC, electrical systems, protection, or commissioning environments
  • Professional Engineer License issued by the Examining Board for Engineers, Architects, Surveyors and Landscape Architects of Puerto Rico
  • Be a member of the Puerto Rico College of Engineers and Land Surveyors (CIAPR)
