Job Summary
Coordinate Clinical Pharmacy Services by facilitating systems that promote desirable patient outcomes through safe, cost-effective drug therapies. Provide clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners while reviewing the performance and documentation of all pharmacists. Educate staff on pharmaceutical issues, train and develop department personnel, and assess competency of clinical rotation students and residents. Maintain professional certifications, licenses, and technical knowledge while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Adapt behavior to specific patient populations, including entering isolation rooms and handling hazardous medications, within Ochsner Health's Gulf South network of hospitals and urgent care centers.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D)
- 3 to 5 years experience in clinical practice
- Supervisory experience
- Current Pharmacy license in the state of practice
- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information
- Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Strong leadership skills
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to lift 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally
- Must be able to lift 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently
- Must be able to lift greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly
- Must be able to exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently
- Must be able to exert greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly
- Must be able to move objects
- Must be able to walk or stand to a significant degree
- Must be able to sit most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls
- Must be able to work at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials
- Must be able to work within a healthcare setting
- Must be able to work with patients who have known or suspected communicable diseases
- Must be able to enter isolation rooms
- Must be able to work with hazardous medications
- Must be able to work with hazardous waste
- Must be able to receive, transport, store, prepare, dispense, administer, clean and/or dispose of contaminated waste
- Must be able to remain knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility
- Must be able to ensure compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards
- Must be able to report any known or suspected unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct
- Must be able to address patient/employee safety
- Must be able to address patient privacy
- Must be able to address other compliance-related concerns
- Must be able to adapt behavior to the specific patient population
- Must be able to respect for privacy
- Must be able to adapt explanation of services or procedures to be performed
