Job Summary
Lead a team of Specialists managing third-party collections, bankruptcy proceedings, litigation, foreclosures, and settlements to ensure the credit union's financial well-being. Develop comprehensive recovery strategies, oversee relationships with legal partners and collection agencies, and negotiate member debt settlements while maintaining regulatory compliance. Manage the foreclosure process through Real Estate Owned marketing and liquidation, prepare monthly reports for senior management, and conduct employee evaluations and training. Collaborate with legal counsel and adjust strategies based on evolving bankruptcy laws to minimize losses and maximize asset recovery.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in asset protection, collections, or a related role within the financial industry
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience
- In depth knowledge of bankruptcy, litigation, third-party collections, foreclosures, and settlement processes
- Strong leadership skills and a proven ability to manage and motivate a team
- Excellent communication/negotiation skills
- An understanding of relevant laws and regulations governing asset protection in the financial sector
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate an on-line computer terminal and other standard office equipment, such as financial calculators, personal computer, facsimile machine, and telephone
- Corrected vision within the normal range
- Hearing within normal range
- Minimal local travel to attend court appearances by car or public conveyance
