Job Summary
Create and implement resident activities and events while managing staff schedules and coordinating volunteer staffing. Complete activity assessments, Minimum Data Set questions, and administer the monthly activity calendar. Communicate department activities to employees and regularly solicit resident input for planning. Assist with simple nursing procedures, transporting residents, and supporting optimal functioning through one-on-one and group interventions. Work autonomously with strong critical thinking to prioritize responsibilities and maintain dignity for residents with behavioral issues. Maintain CNA certification and valid driver's license as required for this role.
Required Qualifications
- Current Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification or currently enrolled as a student in a healthcare related program
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Valid driver's license
- Medical qualification to perform essential driving functions
- Eligibility for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or activities professional by a recognized accrediting body
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree
- Two years experience in this field
- Knowledge of working with a wide variety of resident demographics
- Experience in social services or creative activities
- Minimum of one year previous leadership/management experience
- Successful completion of an accredited training program approved by state
