Supervisor, Accounts Receivable - Outpatient Eligibility/Procedural Auth - Remote

Job Summary
Supervise and coordinate the Accounts Receivable section of the Duke Hospital Business Office, including processing third-party claims, maintenance and collection of patient accounts, and approval of refunds, allowances, discounts, and write-offs. Analyze insurance denials and late claims, investigate collection problems, advise on hospital credit policy, and coordinate payment arrangements. Plan workloads, conduct meetings, develop operating policies, assist with budgetary recommendations, and train new staff. Maintain liaison with hospital and clinic supervisory personnel, prepare reports analyzing trends, and ensure compliance with established practices. Requires knowledge of clerical and accounting principles and experience in AR; leadership and supervisory responsibilities are central to the role.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Accounting or a directly related field
- Five years of progressive experience in an accounts receivable environment
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field may be substituted for education/experience
- Knowledge of accounting, billing, and collections in healthcare
- Familiarity with Duke Payroll System and related office procedures
