Job Summary
Manage project profitability, quality, and schedule performance by supervising multiple engineering teams on simultaneous substation projects. Assign personnel based on requirements and availability, then coordinate efforts with construction and purchasing to meet milestones. Prepare and track budgets while ensuring teams apply standards including NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI. Utilize engineering software for ground grid design, relay coordination, and load flow studies. Communicate with customer representatives and maintain safety analysis sheets. Travel short distances for site visits as required. Report to the VP of Engineering in Covington, LA.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE); if registered in a state other than where the engineer will practice, the employee must be able to obtain a license within one year of date of hire
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in the electrical power industry
- Extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience in substation engineering and design
- Experience managing the efforts of a design team that includes multiple-discipline engineers, designers, and drafters
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of high-voltage electrical substation components and their functions, 138 kV and above
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of AC/DC fundamentals and three-phase power systems
- Strong knowledge of common engineering application software
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of engineering standards including NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI
- Extensive knowledge of design documents and drawings necessary to complete a project
- Demonstrated ability to supervise multiple project teams and coordinate with other departments and management to set project team goals
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to lead in a team environment and communicate goals effectively with co-workers
- Ability to sit for extended periods during computer-based work
- Ability to stand and walk intermittently throughout the workday
- Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds
- Occasional travel to other offices or meeting locations
- Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without current or future visa sponsorship
