Job Summary

Lead and manage project quality, financial, and schedule for multimodal, active transportation, and transit-friendly planning projects including complete streets, vision zero, greenways, and community placemaking. Leverage relationships with NJ Agencies to identify opportunities, develop competitive proposals, and provide QA/QC oversight and mentoring for department staff. Collaborate across in-house disciplines and regional offices to produce deliverables, conduct GIS mapping, and execute public outreach through meetings and surveys. This Supervising Planner role supports NV5's multi-disciplinary Planning department in Morristown, NJ, focusing on designing systems that encourage healthy lifestyles and community vitality. The position requires a hybrid schedule with a four-day work week and proficiency in industry software such as ArcGIS and Adobe Creative Suite.

Required Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in a consulting firm or public agency, with leadership experience
  • Completion of a master's graduate degree in planning, landscape architecture, engineering, or a related field
  • Strong Working knowledge of NJ Agency Methodologies
  • Existing working relationships with NJ Agencies senior staff and management
  • Effective proposal writing skills
  • Effective Staff Development skills
  • Proven ability to win work with NJ Agencies including NJDOT, NJ Transit and NJTPA etc
  • AICP and NJ Professional Planner license
  • Strong communications skills, excellent writing and graphics capabilities
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), ArcGIS, AutoCAD, or other industry software
  • Collaborative spirit
  • Ability to succeed in a hybrid work environment (combination of remote, in-office, and in-the-field work)
  • Ability to participate in fieldwork, and in-person project meetings within the region
