Job Summary
Review vendor documentation and coordinate with the internal Sourcing Team while supporting the Proposal Team with Bill of Materials, technical concepts, Single Line Diagrams, and Layout plans. Coordinate directly with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers on technical issues, and lead design reviews to report technical risks to line management. Plan and perform technical design reviews, review Inspection and Test plans, attend FATs for major electrical equipment, and list deviations to engineering specifications for corrective action implementation. Answer technical site questions and review non-conformance reports from an engineering perspective. Manage a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, and support staff to ensure high voltage substation projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with all relevant standards, including ANSI, ASTM, ACI, AISC, IEEE NEC, and NESC. Requires a P.E. license, 7+ years in electric utility or EPC, and up to 10-15% travel.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in the electric utility industry or EPC Companies performing engineering related duties and/or management for high voltage electrical substation design
- Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) or Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
- P.E. license required
- Proven track record of successfully leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and delivering complex projects on time and within budget
- Strong technical expertise in electrical engineering, with a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles and practices
- Expert knowledge of electric utility engineering and construction standards
- Knowledge of utility industry processes including scheduling, contracts, coordinating and managing all disciplines
- Knowledge of process and procedures for project controls and estimates
- Demonstrated experience supporting external customers
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, and external partners
- Knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations, including ANSI, ASTM, ACI, AISC, IEEE NEC, NESC, and others
- Able to deal with ambiguity and ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and determine priorities in a complex environment
- Travel as necessary to achieve job responsibilities, up to 10-15% of the time
