Job Summary
Repair and perform preventative maintenance on commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems in Wegmans stores, with oversight and coordination of external equipment contractors/vendors. Responsibilities include unsupervised repairs for emergency and non-emergency situations, preventative maintenance planning, effective communication with team and store personnel, maintaining records of equipment work and refrigerant inventories, EPA compliance documentation, and ensuring high standards of safety and food quality. Requires mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills, familiarity with building management and PLC-based control systems, welding/plumbing knowledge, and experience with supermarket/restaurant equipment. Eligible candidates typically have 10+ years of related experience, technical training (apprenticeship/trade school/RSES), and EPA Universal Certification; State Licensed Refrigeration credentials are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years related work experience
- Independent ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems
- Technical training through apprenticeship, RSES, trade school, or equivalent
- EPA Universal Certification
- State Accredited Refrigeration License is preferred
- Proficient with laptop computer and building management systems
- Proficient in startups, system restarts, refrigerant leak checks, and rigging
