Job Summary

Construction Superintendent overseeing on-site field operations for water treatment facilities, wastewater facilities, pumping stations, and related civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation/controls scopes. Leads day-to-day field operations from mobilization through closeout, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution in accordance with drawings, specifications, permits, schedules, and contract requirements. Coordinates with the Project Manager and project team to optimize productivity, manage trade coordination, support commissioning and turnover activities, and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and field staff. Responsibilities include developing look-ahead plans, coordinating labor and deliveries, monitoring progress and risks, leading site coordination meetings, enforcing OH&S practices, overseeing field quality and inspections, reviewing drawings and submittals, supporting procurement for key equipment, maintaining site documentation, and mentoring forepersons and junior team members. Travel to project sites in Ontario is required; a valid driver’s license is required. Asset: post-secondary education in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is considered; equivalent field experience will be considered.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in a Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Foreperson, or similar field leadership role delivering heavy civil and/or industrial infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience on water treatment, wastewater treatment, and/or pumping station projects.
  • Strong knowledge of field operations across civil, structural, mechanical/process, electrical, and instrumentation/controls scopes.
  • Proven ability to lead site teams, coordinate subcontractors, manage sequencing, and drive safe and efficient work in active or brownfield facility environments.
  • Strong understanding of construction scheduling, look-ahead planning, and field productivity management.
  • Working knowledge of drawings, specifications, shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and construction documentation processes.
  • OH&S legislation awareness, hazard identification, incident prevention, and safety leadership best practices.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with project teams, subcontractors, consultants, clients, and inspectors.
  • Experience supporting inspections, testing, commissioning, turnover, and deficiency closeout on complex infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard construction reporting/documentation tools; experience with digital project management platforms is an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is an asset; equivalent field experience will also be considered.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
