Job Summary
Senior operational leader accountable for Melt Shop performance across EAF, secondary metallurgy, and continuous casting with full ownership of safety, production planning, and cost performance. Own metallurgical standards and end-to-end Melt Shop operations, drive data-driven decisions, and lead a large, multi-level workforce in a 24/7 unionized environment. Partner with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality and Scheduling to ensure plant-wide alignment with safety, quality, productivity and financial goals, including budgeting, capital planning, and continuous improvement initiatives. Provide hands-on leadership to resolve complex metallurgical and production challenges, champion a zero-harm safety culture, and deliver sustained improvements in reliability, throughput and cost per ton.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, business or related field
- 10+ years experience in Steel manufacturing with casting and melting experience
- 5+ years of leadership in EAF-based operations
- Experience Managing in a union environment: grievances, contract negotiations preferred
- Experience in RCM programming, Continuous Improvement, Operational Transformation required
- Experience in lean manufacturing, six sigma and operational excellence methodologies required
- Experience leading 24/7 operations with full operational ownership
- Proven experience managing budgets, cost control, and capital planning
- Strong executive presence and communication skills
- Deep background in melt shop processes, metallurgy, and steel production systems
