Job Summary
Lead and oversee open pit mining operations in a FIFO setup from Perth to Leonora, driving short- and medium-term mine plans to meet production targets. Manage a in-house open pit mining team and contractors to ensure safe, efficient execution aligned with objectives and contractual commitments. Drive continuous improvement, governance, and cost management including capital expenditures, while promoting a strong safety-first culture. Responsibilities include overseeing capital projects, budgeting (Opex/Capex), and coordinating across production, mine development, infrastructure, and strategy with a collaborative leadership style. Requires mining engineering qualifications, a Quarry Manager’s Certificate, Deswik experience, and a track record of site-based mining leadership in a fast-paced gold mining environment.
Required Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related discipline
- An unrestricted Quarry Manager’s Certificate
- A minimum of five years’ post-graduate mining experience
- Strong knowledge of statutory safety requirements relevant to mining operations
- Technical expertise in open pit mine design, drill and blast, mine optimisation, and planning
- A collaborative leadership style with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments
- Experience with mine planning and scheduling software, with Deswik experience highly regarded
- Operational site-based mining experience, preferably within the gold sector, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment
