Job Summary
Superintendent of Park Services in Dundee Township Park District leads Parks, natural areas, non-recreation facilities, and zoo operations; oversees four full-time division supervisors and Zoo staff; manages large-scale capital projects from design to completion, including bidding, budgeting, and construction oversight; drives grant writing and financial support; ensures ADA compliance, safety/risk management, and operational excellence; responsible for coaching and developing staff, budgeting, and inter-departmental partnerships in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- Five years of department-level leadership experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in park maintenance, forestry, horticulture, recreation, or a closely related field (candidates with equivalent, relevant experience will be considered)
- Experience working with state agencies and grant programs (IDNR; OSLAD, PARC) desirable
- Valid Illinois Driver’s License required; CDL preferred
- Illinois Pesticide Applicator License (Turf and Ornamentals) highly desired
- Certifications: CPSI preferred, CPRP preferred
Desired Qualifications

- Experience with ADA and safety/risk management initiatives
- Construction and project management, turf and grounds maintenance, horticulture/landscape maintenance
- Knowledge of park planning and design
- Experience with park district facilities and zoo operations
- Ability to coach and lead cross-functional teams
- Strong communication and inter-departmental collaboration skills
