Job Summary
The Superintendent will oversee the daily operation of a Layton Construction project site in Phoenix, managing scheduling, procurement of materials, manpower and equipment, directing direct labor and subcontractors, coordinating with the Project Manager on look-ahead schedules, and ensuring adherence to specifications and construction schedules. Responsibilities include coordinating pre-construction meetings, directing tool/material procurement to align with progress, communicating construction status to all stakeholders, resolving field issues, managing labor costs, and enforcing safety and quality standards. Strong leadership, planning, and coordination across crafts, subcontractors, clients, and internal teams are required, with a focus on maintaining project timelines and budgets.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction related field or equivalent
- at least 5 years commercial construction experience
- valid driver's license
- travel to and from the project site
- understands and applies building codes and other design requirements correctly
- reads blueprints accurately
- good written and verbal communication skills
- good administrative skills
- good management skills
- professional appearance and conduct
- initiative and self-starting ability
- ability to operate office equipment and use spreadsheet/word processing software
- CMiC knowledge preferred
- Spanish language skills preferred
