Job Summary
Superintendent overseeing marine repair and ship construction projects in Galveston, TX. Responsibilities include directing and supervising workers, coordinating with project management and contractors to resolve construction, repair, maintenance, safety, and environmental issues; evaluating execution methods for cost-effectiveness; monitoring compliance through project inspections; investigating delays or damage; planning and directing activities related to construction or maintenance of ships and systems; budgeting, cost tracking, and progress reporting; requisitioning supplies; scheduling work; and building customer relations. Requires at least a high school diploma or equivalent, and extensive supervisory experience in industrial/marine settings with strong blueprint-reading, cost-tracking, and interpersonal skills.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Industrial and/or marine journeyman experience
- Minimum of 10 years supervisory experience preferred
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and understand codes/specifications, sketches, and technical manuals
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- High performance and a strong team player
- Ability to work under deadlines and schedule pressures
- Commitment to company values, policies and procedures and safety program
- General Computer Skills
