Job Summary
Electrical Superintendent role leading field execution for high-voltage substation projects in Vancouver area. You will lead field crews performing installation, maintenance, testing, and commissioning of substation equipment (transformers, switchgear, control cabinets, protective relays, grounding systems), oversee high-voltage terminations and cable work up to 2750 kcmil, plan daily/weekly work schedules, enforce safety protocols (LOTO, energized work procedures) and ensure compliance with CSA, IEEE, and local codes. You will review electrical drawings and schematics, coordinate with engineers, project managers, QA/QC, and commissioning teams, perform inspections and QA/QC checks, troubleshoot faults, maintain field documentation, and manage subcontractors and site logistics. The ideal candidate brings deep HV substation knowledge, strong leadership, Journeyman Electrician Certification (Red Seal preferred), 7+ years HV substation experience, 3+ years supervisory experience, and the ability to operate in energized substation environments.
Required Qualifications
- Journeyman Electrician Certification (Red Seal preferred)
- 7+ years of high-voltage substation experience (installation, testing, commissioning)
- Minimum 3+ years in a supervisory or lead role overseeing electrical crews
- Strong knowledge of protective relaying, SCADA systems, control wiring, and substation construction practices
- Proficiency with high-voltage testing equipment (Megger, Doble, hipot testers, relay test sets)
- Ability to read and interpret complex electrical drawings and schematics
- Strong understanding of LOTO procedures, electrical safety standards, and energized work environments
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license (or equivalent)
- Ability to work outdoors, travel to project sites (Vancouver/ Burnaby/ Richmond), and work within live substations
- Must be able to obtain NERC certification through background screening
