Job Summary

Lead all Tailings Storage Facility construction activities with an uncompromising focus on safety, risk management, and environmental compliance. Drive a proactive safety culture across contractors and site teams, ensuring work adheres to HSE standards and permit-to-work systems. Execute construction in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and schedules while maintaining focus on productivity, cost control, and efficient resource use. Monitor daily progress, identify bottlenecks, and take immediate action to maintain momentum. Assess complex, high-risk situations to develop practical, actionable solutions and lead the resolution of site issues through structured, solution-oriented thinking. Direct and supervise contractors, supervisors, and site teams to ensure alignment with project objectives, allocating resources effectively and maintaining accountability for performance. Manage the construction budget and supply of required materials, supporting delivery within budget and schedule constraints while monitoring resource utilization and cost performance.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Mining Engineering
  • 10 years' experience in TSF operation, engineered fill and buttress construction
  • Practical experience in tailings-based earthworks and deposition construction, including downstream and centerline raising methods, paddock construction, controlled tailings placement, beach management, and the use of tailings sand as a construction material
  • Strong understanding of TSF construction, earthworks, and large civil works execution
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Sound knowledge of construction sequencing, risk management, and site logistics
  • Experience in managing construction contractors
  • Eligibility to hold a legal appointment according to local Mining Regulations
  • Understanding of mining legislation, SOPs and operational procedures
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and risk assessment methodologies
  • Ability to tackle practical, production-oriented problems through mini-projects
  • Skills in managing projects, including planning, execution and reporting
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to lead and coach
