Job Summary
Conduct regular safety inspections and enforce safety and quality control policies to ensure all working conditions comply with company, contract, and government standards. Supervise the timely, cost-effective installation of contracted work and develop a project schedule and sequence of work to align with critical path materials and submittal deadlines. Control field costs, monitor field productivity, and provide on-the-job training for Assistant Superintendents and Project/Office Engineers. Manage scope conflicts, update monthly schedules, and ensure punch lists are completed. This active, hands-on role requires navigating uneven terrain, lifting materials up to 50 pounds, and responding to time-sensitive communications during extended hours, especially during critical project phases.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience with a large-scale heavy civil contractor or equivalent industry experience
- In-depth knowledge of the construction process, including scheduling, contract administration, equipment, and manpower
- Experience with a large-scale heavy civil contractor or equivalent industry experience with increasing levels of responsibility
- Demonstrated ability to lead field operations

- Ability to communicate effectively
- Visual acuity for reading plans and inspecting work
- Comfortable frequently lifting and carrying materials up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable in elevated or confined work areas with moving mechanical equipment
- Comfortable in all kinds of weather and moderate to loud noise levels
- Ability to follow Atkinson Construction's safety policies and procedures
- Flexibility to work extended hours, especially during critical project phases or client deadlines
- Ability to monitor and respond to communications (phone calls, emails, text messages) as required
- Pre-employment drug fitness for duty screening
- Currently authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis
