Job Summary

Conduct regular safety inspections to ensure working conditions comply with company, contract, and government standards while supervising the timely and cost-effective installation of contracted work. Develop and update monthly project schedules, manage field costs, and control productivity to assure all work aligns with contract documents. Provide on-the-job training for Assistant Superintendents and Project Engineers, enforce corporate safety and quality control policies, and assist in resolving scope conflicts. Monitor critical path material deliveries and ensure punch lists are completed promptly. This active, hands-on role requires navigating uneven terrain, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in all weather conditions alongside extended hours and emergency responsiveness.

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience with a large-scale heavy civil contractor or equivalent industry experience
  • In-depth knowledge of the construction process, including scheduling, contract administration, equipment, and manpower
  • Experience with a large-scale heavy civil contractor or equivalent industry experience with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Demonstrated ability to lead field operations

  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Visual acuity for reading plans and inspecting work
  • Comfortable frequently lifting and carrying materials up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable in elevated or confined work areas with moving mechanical equipment
  • Comfortable in all kinds of weather and moderate to loud noise levels
  • Ability to follow Atkinson Construction's safety policies and procedures
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, especially during critical project phases or client deadlines
  • Prepared to do what it takes to achieve exceptional results
  • A pre-employment drug 'fitness for duty' screening
  • Currently authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis
