Job Summary
Summer Students will assist in delivering a 7-week summer program for children aged 6–12, under the direction of the Middle Years and Childcare Services Team Lead. Responsibilities include leading recreational activities, promoting safety, supporting field trips and daily events, assisting with meal preparation and program setup/takedown, maintaining health records, administering medication under supervision, reporting accidents or illnesses, and contributing to developmentally appropriate programming and family engagement. The role emphasizes creating a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment and offers opportunities to build leadership skills while serving as a positive role model. Qualifications include current full-time high school enrollment for 2025-2026 and returning in September 2026, First Aid/Babysitting/ Food Safe assets, strong communication and teamwork, experience with children, physical ability to assist in lifting children, Indigenous community eligibility within SASET catchment, and successful completion of pre-employment screening including a criminal record check.
Required Qualifications
- Enrolled in fulltime High School during 2025-2026 and returning fulltime in September 2026
- First Aid, Babysitting, Food Safe certificates would be an asset
- Good communication and relationship-building skills
- Experience working with children
- Ability to work as a member of a team
- Will be responsible for child safety and may be required to lift children alone or in pairs
- Indigenous, status/non-status, on/off reserve who resides within the SASET catchment area
- Must be willing to participate in physical activities
- Participants must be a minimum of 15 years old and have a SIN Number
- Must have a Bank account and a BC Services Card
- Initial and ongoing employment is subject to submission of a clear Criminal Record Check
