Job Summary

Teach students with special and general education needs during the 6-week Extended School Year (ESY) Summer Session while maintaining full compliance with Agency policies, Federal and State laws, and the Justice Center's Code of Conduct for People with Special Needs. Manage student behavior by establishing rules, maintaining confidentiality for all records, and using relevant technology to support instruction. Develop appropriate curriculum, prepare IEPs, report cards, transcripts, and progress notes, and evaluate academic and behavioral status to inform treatment plans. Establish relationships with students, attend planning conferences, assist in staff orientation, and demonstrate cultural sensitivity. This role requires a Bachelor's degree, current NYS Special Education Teacher certification, and the ability to perform Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, including physical restraint techniques.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree or higher from an accredited institution
