Job Summary
Ensemble Director responsibilities include choosing and ordering music, ordering supplies for the group, submitting invoices to the program administrator, running 14 rehearsals, and conducting the concert for a Summer Music Festival at Parcels Middle School. The role requires teaching experience with grades 5-8, a valid Michigan teaching certificate with the JX-Music endorsement, and working knowledge of band and orchestra literature and instrument pedagogy, plus the ability to motivate students. Dates are July 6–17, 2026 (Monday–Friday, 9am–12pm, final celebration July 17). Compensation is in accordance with the CBA.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with JX-Music endorsement
- Experienced in teaching grades 5-8
- Working knowledge of band and orchestra literature
- Working knowledge of instrument pedagogy
- Ability to motivate students
