Job Summary
Custodian duties include keeping Braxton County School buildings clean and free of refuse, operating heating/cooling systems, performing minor repairs, dusting/polishing fixtures, cleaning restrooms, windows, floors, and carpets, and maintaining equipment and inventory. The role requires maintaining a positive work attitude, following state and county policies, and performing a broad range of custodial and maintenance tasks (including lawn care, minor repairs, safety inspections, and setup for activities). Qualifications require a High School Diploma or GED, passing the WV exam, and a criminal background check; applicants may include current Braxton County students with preference given to existing staff. The position is seasonal/As needed during mowing season and classified as Non-Exempt.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED per West Virginia Code §18A-2-5
- Must pass the state prescribed exam per WV Code §18A-4-8e
- Criminal background check per WV Code §18-5-15c
- Ability to perform job duties and responsibilities as described
- Currently enrolled Braxton County High School students eligible to apply (preference to current Braxton County staff)
