Job Summary
Summer Camp Substitute Counselor at Steve & Kate's Camp in Jacksonville, FL. Responsibilities include facilitating activities, supervising campers (ages 4-12), maintaining organized and welcoming activity spaces, ensuring safety and wellness, and reporting notable concerns or injuries. Staff may rotate through support roles; activities include sewing, stop-motion animation, maker space, performing arts, arts and crafts, recreation, and more. Requires being calm under pressure, ability to lead groups, and stamina to keep up with energetic campers. In-person role with hours from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm during camp dates (6/1/2026–7/31/2026) with setup/breakdown weekends. Salary range is $15.50–$18.00 per hour, with actual offers determined by experience. Minimum 2 months of childcare/camp experience and First Aid & CPR certification prior to Day 1 are required; access to field trips and immunization/safety policies may apply.
Required Qualifications
- At least 16 years of age
- Minimum of 2 months experience working with camp–age children, with 1 year preferred
- First Aid & CPR certified prior to Day 1 of Camp
- Ability to work in person at camp location (Jacksonville, FL)
- Ability to supervise and lead groups of children (ages 4-12) for multiple activities
- Willingness to comply with immunization, health and safety policies
- Ability to participate in set-up and breakdown during move-in/move-out weekends
