Job Summary
The Salvation Army Summer Camp Program Aide will help create a safe, enjoyable, and enriching summer day camp experience for children in Newark, CA. Responsibilities include assisting with teaching music instruments and music theory, supervising and caring for campers in educational, enrichment, and recreational settings, providing encouraging instruction during group activities, helping plan lessons and activities, supporting field trip arrangements, maintaining safety and discipline, assisting the Director of Group Leader with homework support and lesson delivery, and helping with setup/cleanup. Requires knowledge of musical instruments and music theory, ability to work with diverse backgrounds, a valid California driver’s license, and basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and desktop publishing). Must be able to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist, push/pull objects, reach overhead, operate a phone, and lift up to 25 lbs; capable of accommodating requested accommodations where possible.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of music instruments; ability to teach music instruments and music theory
- Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
- Valid California Drivers’ License
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and basic desktop publishing programs
