Job Summary
The Family Camp Counselor at YMCA Family Camp Nawakwa is responsible for leading recreational activities such as arts and crafts, sports, large group games, and more with youth and families. The role includes organizing and promoting activities, teaching life skills, and ensuring camper safety. Candidates must have a strong interest in outdoor activities, demonstrate maturity and judgment, and will be role models for campers. The position requires physical capability, including the ability to lift 50 lbs. A Lifeguard Certification is preferred, but not mandatory.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must obtain American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED for Adults and Children prior to the start of camp
- Strong interest, maturity and judgment in working with campers in an outdoor setting
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and a commitment to, and a passion for, the mission of the YMCA
- Must be willing to engage, entertain and lead campers in songs, skits, and other activities
- Must meet physical qualifications required (being able to lift 50lbs, able to stand for long periods of time, and act with urgency during emergencies)
- Must be able to pass a background check
Desired Qualifications
- Lifeguard Certification preferred
- Knowledge and experience in camp related activities
