Job Summary
Operate and maintain vacuum excavation trucks and related equipment safely while designating and locating underground utilities. Create legible field sketches, perform field measurements, document daily activities, and conduct records research. Utilize pipe and cable locating devices to identify surface features associated with various utilities. Follow traffic control procedures and safety precautions when working around traffic. Maintain equipment and perform basic maintenance tasks as assigned. Requires a valid driver's license, DOT medical card, and 2-4 years of utility locating experience.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 2 - 4 years of experience
- Pre-employment drug screening
- Background and motor vehicle checks
- Valid current driver's license
- Ability to obtain a Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical card for Commercial Motor Vehicle operation
- Ability to follow instructions
- Ability to be trained, mentored
- Positive can-do attitude
- Leadership and mentoring skills
- Basic knowledge of various underground utilities
- Ability to identify surface features associated with various utilities
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE)
- Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
- Surveying
- CADD
- Vacuum excavation truck experience
- Ability to perform some equipment maintenance tasks
- Mechanical aptitude
- Current Commercial Driver's License
- NULCA or other certification
