Job Summary
Locate underground utilities using Electromagnetism, non-destructive Geophysical methods, and ground penetrating radar while operating survey equipment to collect data. Maintain company vehicles and equipment, then review collected data with Project Managers and Clients. Research utility records to identify lines based on field observations and document results in CAD format. Aiding Project Managers with site walks, one-calls, and organizing field data. Operate independently with minimal supervision across New England, including up to 50% out-of-town travel. Perform physical tasks in construction zones, lifting up to 75 lbs and navigating uneven terrain. Work primarily outdoors (90%) in variable weather while adhering to safety standards and PPE requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- Must operate survey equipment to collect SUE data
- Must operate and maintain company equipment and vehicles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and related tools (required)
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs
- Ability to walk long distances
- Ability to navigate uneven terrain
- Engage in repetitive motions, including bending, stooping, lifting, and handling equipment
- Extended periods of standing, walking, and occasional sitting for training or office tasks
- Work primarily outdoors (90%)
- Compliance with PPE requirements at all job sites
- Training and certification for confined spaces preferred
Desired Qualifications
- Research and Records Review: Ability to research and review utility company records and identify utilities based on field observations. Experience is preferred.
- Utility Construction Methods: Understanding of utility construction methods is preferred.
- Utility Locating Equipment: Knowledge and experience with utility line locating equipment (SUE Designating)
- Independent Decision-Making: Ability to make field decisions without direct supervision
- Field Experience: 5 years of SUE QLB specific experience preferred. Can be offset with commensurate utility locating experience
- Survey Methodologies: Experience using survey methodologies to collect SUE field data
- CCTV Data Collection: Familiarity with general use of CCTV Flexiprobe for data collection
- Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR): Experience with multiple GPR units and post-processing data collection is a plus
- Training will be provided as needed (for CAD Documentation and GPR)
- Demonstrates deep knowledge and proficiency in specialized areas related to the role, staying up-to-date with the latest industry standards and techniques
- Effectively identifies issues, analyzes root causes, and implements practical solutions, making informed decisions that align with business goals
- Ensures accuracy and precision in all work tasks, thoroughly reviewing information and processes to avoid errors and maintain high-quality results
- Adheres to and promotes safety standards and regulatory guidelines, ensuring a safe and compliant working environment for all team members
