Job Summary
Lead utility investigations across transportation and infrastructure projects, managing end-to-end scopes, schedules, budgets, and final deliverables. Oversee utility designation and test hole operations in the field while ensuring compliance with ASCE 38 standards and industry best practices. Coordinate with engineers, survey teams, and utility owners throughout the project lifecycle, review utility mapping for accuracy, and prepare technical reports. Mentor SUE technicians and junior staff, manage multiple crews and subcontractors, and lead proposal development and client presentations. This hands-on leadership role offers exposure to complex high-profile projects within a 100% employee-owned firm, with a clear path toward senior and principal-level advancement.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 8–10+ years of experience in Subsurface Utility Engineering or utility mapping
- Demonstrated experience managing SUE projects from proposal through closeout
- Strong working knowledge of ASCE 38 utility quality levels
- Demonstrated experience reviewing data for consistency and accuracy
- Experience coordinating with design engineers, survey teams, and utility owners
- Strong communication, client-facing, and leadership skills
- Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification
- Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed
Desired Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license
- Experience on DOT or municipal infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of utility designation equipment and field techniques
- Experience managing multiple crews and subcontractors simultaneously
- Experience in Microstation ORD or Autodesk AutoCAD
