Job Summary
Communicate with project managers, clients, and utility representatives while operating vacuum excavation trucks to expose underground layouts. Select appropriate geophysical equipment, perform test holes, and drive or ride in boats and all-terrain vehicles to obtain survey data. Complete daily job safety analysis forms, maintain traffic signage, and document findings with accurate record-keeping and simple mathematics. Inspect assigned equipment, report failures on work orders, and utilize stop work authority when monitoring conditions. Perform work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining safety and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to perform physical movements and tractions, commensurate with operating heavy tools and equipment
- Possess basic computer skills and able to learn and understand new software
- Ability to operate surveying instruments, boats, airboats, GPS, all-terrain vehicles, and other equipment necessary to obtain survey data
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to stand
- Ability to walk long distances while carrying equipment, sometimes through rugged terrain, mud, or swamp
- Ability to drive and/or ride in a boat
- Ability to sit
- Ability to balance, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to use hands to operate, handle, maneuver and/or manipulate objects, tools or controls
- Ability to reach with hands and arms
- Ability to use manual dexterity to operate equipment
