Job Summary
Designate utilities in rural and urban environments using geophysical equipment, vacuum excavation, and surveying to support 2D QL-B and 3D QL-B mapping projects. Act as a lead on 2-person designating teams and crews employing vacuum excavators to expose, excavate, and backfill test holes. Collect data for vault diagrams, utility pole inventories, and overhead utility mapping using VRS GPR, automatic levels, and digital levels. Obtain and maintain all required safety certifications and implement approved traffic control plans for work outside travel lanes. Coordinate with internal survey crews in the field while obtaining and maintaining all required safety certifications. Requires 1-2 years of SUE field experience, a high school diploma, and the ability to travel for extended periods.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Working knowledge of ASCE 38 guidelines and associated quality levels
- Basic comprehension and interpretation of planimetric and design plans, profiles and cross sections, utility records, etc.
- (1-2) years of SUE field experience required
- Ability to travel for extended periods of time
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working as a 'lead' on SUE QL-A & QL-B field crews preferred
- Survey experience preferred
- Military experience is a plus
