Job Summary
Founding SUD Medical Director responsible for clinical strategy, decision architecture, and operational leadership of the SUD program. Design, audit, and optimize clinical decision trees governing patient intake, acuity level, and transitions of care; set admission criteria for SUD program participants; integrate evidence-based protocols including MAT and digital biomarkers; oversee daily medical monitoring, real-time responses to red-flag data, and medical clearance workflows; serve as final escalation point for complex cases and oversee emergency protocols including virtual crisis intervention. Collaborate with Data Science and Product teams to automate clinical workflows and improve monitoring tool accuracy; supervise multidisciplinary medical staff (NPs, RNs); represent the program in payer audits and regulatory contexts. Requires MD/DO, unrestricted license, DEA, 7+ years SUD clinical experience, 5+ years leadership in clinical protocol design, MAT expertise, telehealth regulatory fluency, and strong EMR/data analytics skills.
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Active, unrestricted medical license and a current DEA registration with the ability to obtain licensure in multiple states as needed
- 7+ years of direct clinical experience treating complex substance use disorders
- 5+ years in a medical leadership role specifically designing clinical protocols, decision trees, or medical clearance workflows
- Expert-level knowledge of MAT (Medication-Assisted Treatment) protocols, withdrawal management, and integration of behavioral therapies within a medical framework
- Strong familiarity with telehealth regulations and remote clinical clearance/virtual medical monitoring
- Proficiency in EMR data and real-time analytics to drive clinical quality improvements
- Pro authorization to work in the United States with native or bilingual English proficiency
