SUD Counselor (Teen Residential Home)

Job Summary

Conduct comprehensive assessments, treatment planning, and discharge planning for individual clients while promoting continuity of care through weekly reviews. Perform crisis intervention, coordinate admissions and discharges with the Program Manager, and lead daily educational or experiential client groups. Compose and enter daily progress and group notes, monitor aftercare recommendations, and facilitate transportation when required. Maintain active DHCS certification, collaborate with families and referral sources regarding client progress, and prepare group materials using new methodologies. Work Sunday through Thursday on the PM shift (2:00pm–10:30pm) with flexibility for on-call emergencies and schedule changes. Travel occasionally for overnight stays with provided mileage, food, and lodging compensation.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current registration through a drug and alcohol credential from a DHCS-recognized institution
  • Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years' experience as a case manager
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Advanced assessment, treatment planning, discharge planning, and documentation skills
  • Knowledge of dual diagnosis treatment practices, including non-pharmacological symptoms management techniques
  • Experience working with culturally diverse individuals and communities or have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to strengthening engagement of a diverse community and skill in communicating with diverse populations
  • Familiarity with equity and/or diversity initiatives within an organization
  • Written and oral communication skills sufficient to perform essential functions
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently and use initiative to accomplish complex assignments with general instruction and guidance
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment and integrity on the job with confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
  • Demonstrated ability to organize time and other resources to perform multiple tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to complete work accurately and in a timely manner with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others and to provide effective team leadership
  • Proficiency in word processing and database and/or spreadsheet applications
  • Physical and mental attributes sufficient to perform essential functions
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize merit, excellence and intelligence in staff and potential employees
  • Valid Driver's License / Clean Driving Record
  • Ability to pass Department of Justice (DOJ) Background Clearance
  • Must be flexible and able to come in while on call for an emergency
  • Must be open to schedule changes when required
  • Must be available for Sunday-Thursday |PM Shift |2:00pm - 10:30pm
