Job Summary
Horizon Services, Inc. seeks a bilingual SUD Counselor I for its Palm Avenue Detox facility in Alameda County. The role focuses on providing substance abuse counseling, performing client intakes and discharges, and supporting clients in their recovery journey. Candidates must be registered with a California substance use certifying body and have experience working with diverse populations.
Required Qualifications
- Registration with either Substance Use state certifying body in California (CAADE/CCAPP/CADTP)
- Demonstrated experience working with high and at-risk population
Desired Qualifications
- Bilingual in one or more of BHSD’s five threshold languages: Chinese, Spanish, Tagalog, and Vietnamese
- Excellent computer skills and knowledge of data capture and data input into Electronic Health Records
- Experience working with diverse populations and cultures
- Experience working with customers or clients with co-occurring disorders and disabilities
- Experience working with customers or clients that feel overwhelmed or in a crisis (crisis intervention)
- Knowledge of social model detox concepts
- Knowledge of alcohol and drug addiction
