Job Summary

Subtractive Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op assisting with CNC programming for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling/turning, fixture/workholding design, and process documentation in a hands-on, production-focused environment. Responsibilities include creating/simulating/validating CNC programs with hyperMILL/ESPRIT/Fusion 360, supporting machine setups and first-article validation, designing fixturing to improve setup repeatability and cycle time, documenting machining processes and setup sheets, contributing to continuous improvement and root-cause analysis, and cross-functional collaboration with Quality, Additive Manufacturing, and Assembly teams. Learners will gain practical CAM programming experience, exposure to a Quality Management System, multi-axis machining operations, and structured problem-solving, all during a 12-week term in a role requiring enrollment in a bachelor’s program and US ITAR considerations.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Completion of foundational coursework in manufacturing processes, materials, or engineering design is preferred.
  • Basic exposure to machining principles and subtractive manufacturing concepts through coursework, lab work, or prior experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including a foundational understanding of GD&T.
  • Exposure to CAM software such as hyperMILL, ESPRIT, Fusion 360, or similar platforms is preferred.
  • Exposure to CAD software such as Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or similar is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of G-code and CNC machine setup fundamentals is a plus.
  • Experience operating CNC mills or lathes, with familiarity with Heidenhain, Okuma, or Haas CNC controllers, is a strong plus.
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles through coursework or prior experience is beneficial.

  • ITAR REQUIREMENT: US citizenship, lawful permanent resident status, protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the US Department of State.
