Job Summary
Conduct general cleaning and maintenance of the school building, including all assigned equipment, corridors, and locking of doors and windows. Report major repairs or damage to the Building Head Custodian, Principal, or Director of Buildings and Grounds promptly. Assist in moving classroom furniture, materials, and equipment when needed. Perform duties as requested by the supervisor, which may vary from time to time. Maintain positive communication with school personnel and students while demonstrating integrity and confidentiality. Arrive on time and work consistently until the end of the scheduled day. Substitutes are called on an "as needed basis" with no guarantee of hours or days.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to lift heavy loads not to exceed 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb and work from ladder, scaffolding, or personnel lift
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Valid Iowa drivers and/or chauffeurs license
- Possess collaborative and interpersonal skills
- Successful completion of a criminal background check and physical capacity profile test
Desired Qualifications
- Training and experience in mechanics, heating, plumbing, carpentry, electricity and painting
