Job Summary
Transport students to and from school, field trips, and activities while monitoring passenger behavior and managing loading/unloading. Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, conduct preventative maintenance, and clean assigned buses to ensure safety and sanitation. Report incidents, accidents, and incidents to supervisors and complete required documentation including mileage logs and incident reports. Operate two-way radios with dispatchers and assist with special needs students using lifts and wheelchairs. Conduct emergency evacuation drills and adhere to district transportation policies.
Required Qualifications
- Reside in Laramie County
- Clean driving record
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 21 years old
- Wyoming Class B Commercial Drivers' License (CDL) with P and S endorsements
- Department of Transportation Medical Examiner's Certificate
- Driver insurability via the district's insurance
- Defensive Driving and CPR/First Aid Certificates
- Criminal background check
- Oral and written communication skills
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships
- Attention to detail
- Interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
- Ability to perform basic math including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios
- Ability and willingness to adhere to attendance expectations and to follow district procedures for absence reporting
- Ability to promote and follow Board of Trustees policies, district policies, and department procedures
- Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with all people including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds
- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate/required safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator
- Operational knowledge of school buses and district vehicles
Desired Qualifications
- Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals; typical office equipment, such as telephones, copier; and office productivity programs, such as Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail, etc.
