Job Summary
Manage student learning and maintain a safe, positive classroom environment by implementing lesson plans, ensuring adequate supervision, and resolving conflicts. Report student injuries, accidents, and discipline issues immediately to appropriate authorities while maintaining confidentiality of all student and staff information. Dismiss students before leaving the building, collect papers, and return instructional materials to proper locations. Adhere to school policies, model non-discriminatory practices, and participate in staff development. Work flexible hours including summer and evenings, wearing professional attire. Requires current enrollment at WTAMU or Texas Tech 2+1 Program with knowledge of curriculum and instructional methods.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled at WTAMU (Classroom Management)
- Currently enrolled in the Texas Tech 2+1 Program
- Knowledge of assigned curriculum
- Knowledge of instructional methods
- Lesson planning skills
- Lesson presentation skills

- Classroom management skills
- Group interaction skills
- Must be able to work with frequent interruptions
- Must maintain professional demeanor under stress
- Must be able to work flexible hours including summer and evening work
- Must wear professional attire
- Must be able to lift and carry less than 50 pounds
- Must be able to work prolonged sitting and standing
- Must be able to bend/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
- Must be able to perform repetitive hand motions including keyboarding
- Must be able to reach
- Must be able to report to office upon arrival at school
- Must be able to check mailbox of absent teacher for materials requiring immediate attention
- Must be able to request clarification of school rules and procedures, if necessary
- Must be able to report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible
- Must be able to implement lesson plans while ensuring the integrity of academic time
- Must be able to motivate students to learn and participate
- Must be able to dismiss all students from the classroom before leaving the building
- Must be able to collect and place students' papers
- Must be able to return instructional materials, equipment, and keys to proper place
- Must be able to comply with and support school and division regulations and policies
- Must be able to model non-discriminatory practices in all activities
- Must be able to perform other related duties as assigned by building administrator(s) in accordance with school/division policies and practices
- Must be able to participate in AISD Substitute Teacher staff development
- Must be able to ensure compliance with all local policies and state and federal statutes including the Educator Code of Ethics
