Substitute Teacher - Special Education (Ohio)

Job Summary
Communicate with parents, students, and school staff to develop individualized learning plans, provide feedback on student work, and monitor assignment completion. Complete grading, generate progress reports, and conduct parent conferences as instructed. Support the instructional program through synchronous and asynchronous web conferencing sessions while assisting students with daily assignments and projects. Maintain up-to-date student records, including cumulative files, attendance accounting, and logs. Work with counselors to ensure individual student needs are met and provide frequent updates on behaviors and activities. When not on assignment, check email for upcoming assignments and meet monthly with a supervisor via video conferencing. Complete required professional learning and maintain active certifications.
Required Qualifications
- Valid and active full state teaching certification
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- Dedicated, distraction-free home working environment
- Monday through Friday availability during assigned school hours (typically 8:00 am to 4:00 pm in the school's time zone)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment that requires significant flexibility, effective prioritization of tasks, self-direction, and creativity
- Understanding of IEP/504 plans and how they can be implemented in a virtual setting
- Excellent attention to detail, and strong time management and organizational skills
- Proven commitment to student achievement
- Reliable, high-speed internet access
- Microsoft OS- and Microsoft Office-equipped computer
- Customer-focused approach and team-player track record
- Ability to complete required orientation and training programs within 30 days of hire, and at the beginning of each school year
- 2-step authentication capability to set-up to login to all systems
Desired Qualifications
- Multiple state certifications
- Ability to obtain certification in other states as requested
- Ability to obtain additional clearances as requested
- Strong technology skills (experience with learning management systems, Microsoft Office programs, and Google Apps)
