Job Summary
Report to the Substitute Planner daily to retrieve schedules and materials, then follow classroom teacher or assistant guidance to deliver instruction aligned with lesson plans. Maintain a safe, orderly learning environment by managing behavior, taking attendance, and ensuring students are never unattended. Perform additional duties as needed, including lunchroom, hall monitoring, and recess supervision, while adhering to all school policies and emergency procedures. Communicate respectfully with students, staff, and families, and respond to emails within 24 hours. Participate in PLC meetings and summer professional development, contributing data and ideas to support school-wide goals.
Required Qualifications
- one of the following levels of education: a high school diploma or GED, college-level course work, or a degree preferred
- Demonstrate an understanding of instructional strategies for students ages PK3-5th
- Be a strong classroom manager
- Demonstrate oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of colleagues, parents, families, and community members
- Be committed to meeting the needs of a diverse student population
- Have a track record of being a team player and community-minded
- Be committed to their own learning
- Have a passion for urban public schools
- Adhere to a high level of professional and ethical standards
