Job Summary
Conduct substitute teaching by following district guidelines to ensure a safe, respectful, and age-appropriate environment that promotes learning. Prepare the classroom for activities by having materials, supplies, and equipment ready at the start of each lesson. Consult with staff members regarding attendance procedures, lesson plans, and daily schedules. Communicate clear expectations to students, maintain a high level of time-on-task, and assist in the use of learning materials and relevant technology. Manage student behavior by enforcing rules and maintaining discipline according to school systems. Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline issues immediately to the appropriate authority. Attend to non-teaching duties such as lunch, recess, and hall duty while following all dismissal procedures. Submit written reports on daily progress and issues for the returning teacher.
Required Qualifications
- At minimum, a High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of Effective Teacher Training course
- General knowledge of several subject areas
- Flexibility and critical-thinking skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
