Job Summary
Teach and instruct pupils in culturally appropriate academic, social, behavioral, and educational skill areas while counseling, disciplining, and supervising students to meet individual needs. Plan and implement instructional programs aligned with state standards, including lessons for at-risk or special needs students, and establish culturally appropriate classroom rules and procedures. Monitor student learning and behavior regularly, collect and interpret data for state testing and federal accountability, and prepare reports for parents, guardians, and administrative purposes. Maintain daily schedules, lesson plans, attendance records, and grade records in both electronic and written formats. Confer with students, parents, and staff to modify assignments as needed, direct non-certified personnel and volunteers, and actively participate in required staff meetings and committees.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from a four (4) year college or university
- Washington State teaching certificate
- Valid Washington State driver's license
- First aid/CPR certification
- Specific teaching certificate endorsements
- Knowledge of subject areas appropriate to assignment
- Knowledge of effective behavior management techniques
- Knowledge of rules and procedures for student safety
- Knowledge of necessary equipment, computers, machinery, tools or software
- Proficient use of reading, writing and oral communications
- Experiences and sensitivity toward Native American education issues
- Ability to work effectively in the Muckleshoot tribal community
- Early childhood education teaching processes and techniques
- Ability to handle confidential matters and information in a professional manner
- Willingness to actively participate in job related training, in-service days, conferences and scheduled meetings
