Job Summary
Assist in the education and daily program of a Head Start or Early Head Start classroom, ensuring all children receive individual attention and safe environments. Implement and coordinate all center functions, including field trips, home-style meal service, and child assessments. Maintain classroom and playground safety while managing staff/child ratios and discipline. Report suspected child abuse/neglect to the Family Services Center Manager or Center Director, and notify coordinators of student absences or accidents. Attend workshops, conferences, and in-service trainings to maintain mandated training hours and CPR/First Aid certification. Work effectively without extensive supervision, communicating with families who may have limited English proficiency.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Must be able to serve and effectively communicate, to the extent feasible, with children and families with no or limited English proficiency
- Working knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic
- Computer literate
- Ability to work effectively without extensive supervision
- Ability to operate all office machinery
- Ability to function with diplomacy and tact
- Handle all student information with utmost confidentiality
- Report suspected child abuse/neglect to administrator and law enforcement agency
- Abide by all Innovative Network of Knowledge policies and procedures
- Abide by DFPS and OHS regulations and standards
- Ability to work as a team player
- Must have reliable transportation
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Complete and pass health examination
- Confirm work eligibility status
- Successfully pass driving history check
- Clear criminal background check
- Required to lift up to 60 pounds
- Required to stand, sit on the floor, bend, squat, kneel, lift children, and engage with children
- Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S.
