Job Summary

Assist in the education and daily program of a Head Start or Early Head Start classroom, ensuring all children receive individual attention and safe environments. Implement and coordinate all program functions, including multi-culture curriculum, language arts, and home-style meal service. Conduct daily activities such as staff/child ratio management, discipline, and field trips while maintaining classroom and playground safety. Identify and report child abuse or neglect cases to the Family Services Center Manager or Center Director, and manage student absences and health incidents. Maintain mandated training hours, CPR and First Aid certification, and documentation for all in-service trainings. Work effectively without extensive supervision, operating office machinery and communicating with families, including those with limited English proficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must be able to serve and effectively communicate, to the extent feasible, with children and families with no or limited English proficiency
  • Working knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to work effectively without extensive supervision
  • Ability to operate all office machinery
  • Ability to function with diplomacy and tact
  • Handle all student information with utmost confidentiality
  • Report suspected child abuse/neglect to administrator and law enforcement agency
  • Abide by all Innovative Network of Knowledge policies and procedures
  • Abide by DFPS and OHS regulations and standards
  • Ability to work as a team player
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Complete and pass health examination
  • Confirm work eligibility status
  • Successfully pass driving history check
  • Clear criminal background check
  • Required to lift up to 60 pounds
  • Required to stand, sit on the floor, bend, squat, kneel, lift children, and engage with children
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S.

Desired Qualifications

  • (2)years related experience in the preschool classroom setting
