Job Summary
Support teachers by participating in instructional opportunities and maintain a learning environment that encourages appropriate standards of behavior and positive social interaction for students. Interact effectively with staff, parents, students, and persons outside of the school system while demonstrating good oral and written communication skills and computer literacy. Work with minimum supervision and adapt to unexpected interruptions of the daily work pattern, ensuring knowledge of health, safety, and emergency procedures. Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to team and organizational efforts. Complete an approved training program within three months of employment.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) or demonstrate literacy skills necessary to work with teachers and students.
- Complete a training program approved by Rhode Island Department of Education within three months of employment or similar certification from another state.
- Knowledge of health, safety and emergency procedures of the learning environment.
- Ability to adapt to unexpected interruptions of the daily work pattern.
- Successful interview.
