Job Summary
Plan and teach recreational activities and activities of daily living while providing personal care and supporting community integration for adults with developmental disabilities. Transport clients, complete and maintain accurate reports, and ensure a clean and safe environment. Make sound decisions while handling challenging situations and de-escalating behavior issues. Cross-train between areas to become a versatile Direct Support Professional. No prior DSP, Caregiver, or CBRF experience required; the organization provides all paid classroom and on-the-job training to achieve CBRF certification.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Ability to read and comprehend documents
- Ability to write reports and correspondence
- Ability to effectively communicate with customers, clients, and employees
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to problem solve with a variety of variables in standardized situations
- Ability to interpret and follow through on instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Valid driver's license with a driving record that meets the standards set forth by the organization
- Valid vehicle insurance
- Ability to complete and maintain all required training in accordance with organizational, County, State, and Federal regulations
- Ability to respond to and de-escalate behavior issues
- Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to make sound decisions
- Ability to establish and maintain effective professional working relationships
- Ability to be flexible to meet the needs of the organization
- Knowledge of developmental disabilities
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
