Job Summary

Required Qualifications

• •High school diploma or equivalent
• •Official transcripts of all levels of education
• •Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
• •Positive recommendations/references from previous supervisors
• •Ability to meet the Physical Demands of the position
• •Completion of Safe Schools Web Based Training
• •Pass a background check, which includes employee paid fingerprinting
• •CPI training
• •Availability to work Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at various locations as needed
• •Ability to uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures
• •Ability to take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
• •Ability to attend in-service trainings or other meetings as required
• •Ability to attend any training as directed by management
• •Evidence of ability to assess and correct issues involving safety
• •Evidence of ability to establish and maintain a tactful, cooperative and effective relationship with students, parents, staff, fellow employees and management
• •Ability to approach assigned work in a professional manner
• •Sufficient command of the English language to communicate verbally and in writing with students, parents, district staff members and other concerned people
• •Ability to use basic computer programs to maintain records, enter timecard information and read and respond to email
• •First-aid certification or willingness to acquire first aid training as soon as possible

• •Ability and willingness to safely supervise students' duration transition periods
• •Training and experience in working with students in a life skills classroom
• •Ability to recognize, manage, and implement behavior intervention strategies when appropriate
• •Ability to maintain documentation of ongoing student behavioral data, and be able to report back to the IEP team
• •Ability to run quickly after students with elopement issues and be able to visually track individual student movement
• •Ability and willingness to feed and diaper children who are motoric and require assistance in the bathroom setting
• •Ability to carry out prescribed instructional and behavioral management program
• •Ability to model appropriate behaviors and to provide consistent behavior intervention procedures with student
• •Physical ability to lift students as needed (50 lbs.) or up to 100 lbs. with assistance
• •Evidence of skill with Microsoft Office software
• •Evidence of patience and warmth in working with student and able to remain calm in crisis
• •Ability to be flexible and take direction; ability to work independently
• •Ability to work successfully in team situations
• •Previous experience and training working with students with moderate to severe disabilities
• •Ability to carry out prescribed instructional and behavioral management program
• •Ability to remain calm in crisis situations
• •Ability to supervise and interact with students in P.E. and recess situations
• •Ability to work in a team setting
• •Positive evaluations and recommendations that support character and work ethic
• •Excellent attendance, punctuality, and dependability; evidence of ability to be self-disciplined and a self-starter
• •Demonstration of patience, enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward working with students with disabling conditions
