Job Summary
Substitute Secretary for Southeast Polk Community School District. Responsibilities include assisting with distribution of office mail, answering phone calls and emails from students and/or parents regarding food service online payments and other balances, ordering and billing supplies, selling tickets for activities in the auditorium and assemblies, processing paperwork for students eligible for free and reduced applications, potentially recording Medicaid billing information under the direction of the director of special education, and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. Requires basic bookkeeping and math skills, ability to operate standard office equipment, and strong oral and written communication. Must be able to organize, prioritize, and work under deadlines in a culturally diverse environment. Reports to Building Principal or Department Director; terms of employment and hours are coordinated to meet building needs. Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to perform basic bookkeeping skills, mathematical skills, and operate standard office equipment
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to organize, prioritize and function under pressure and deadlines
- Competency working in a culturally diverse environment or willingness to acquire these skills
Desired Qualifications
- Associates Degree in business or education related field.
