Substitute School Safety Monitor (Temp)

Job Summary
Supervise weapons detection systems and metal detectors for student arrivals, late arrivals, and visitors throughout the day. Respond to and investigate all safety concerns and emergency situations while monitoring designated campus areas including hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, and parking lots. Assist administration in resolving conflicts between students and staff, and maintain video, radio, alarm, and access control systems. Participate in random K-9 and metal detector inspections and serve as a member of the school-level Behavioral Threat Assessment team. Work closely with local law enforcement agencies to monitor the status of students charged with criminal offenses.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Ability to work well with diverse populations
- Willingness to learn and enforce school discipline policy and safety guidelines
- Strong organizational and motivational skills
- Attention to detail and observation ability
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to handle sensitive information while protecting privacy and confidentiality
- Must exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer
- Must be able to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids
- Must be able to hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone
- Must be able to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone
- Must have physical agility to lift up to 40 pounds
